Notes Regarding Data Verification

Using the fingerprint tool it should be possible to add some basic verification to LBackup.

Adding the –checksum option is a possibility. Even if this only happens every x rotations. Currently it is possible to enable the –checksum option from within the backup configuration. One option is to run the checksum option periodically.

Using md5deep is also an option for adding some basic verification to the most recent backup and also if we store check sums within each lbackup set then it could also be used to check sum the backup snapshots and the entire backup set.

On OS X systems backup-bouncer is an option for verification of various meta-data attribute preservation.
